Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2025
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as your username, email address, display name, and any photos or content you upload. We also collect location data when you use the map features or add a new location, but only with your explicit permission.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate and improve ShotSpot, including: displaying your profile and content to other users, sending you account-related emails (such as email verification), and providing location-based features within the app. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Photos and Content
Photos and content you upload to ShotSpot are visible to other users of the app. You retain ownership of your content, but grant ShotSpot a license to display and distribute it within the platform. You can delete your content at any time from your profile.
4. Location Data
The app requests access to your device location only to show nearby spots and to help you pin new locations. Location data is not stored on our servers without your action (e.g., adding a new location pin). You can deny location permission and still use most features of the app.
5. Third-Party Services
ShotSpot uses Cloudinary for photo storage and delivery, and Railway for server hosting. Address and place search uses the Nominatim geocoding service (OpenStreetMap). These services have their own privacy policies governing their use of data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Some content (such as reviews or location additions) may be retained in anonymized form.
7. Children's Privacy
ShotSpot is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of ShotSpot after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at privacy@shotspot.org.
